Funny story but after a long break from modding I started up HS and I got the invalid argument thing again. If you guys remember on the old forum I had the same problem; unfortunately the staff archive does not have that old thread. Anybody wanna help an old man out? biggrin.png

Cheers

Does your shortcut to the game already contain the "-patchrestart" parameter? (without quotes).

Nope lol. I remember that last time this happened you fixed it for me Nils, I wish that thread was in the archive again.

So, does the parameter change anything? I remember the problem and I know there's an easy solution to it, but right now not its exact nature.

Edit: Yes, that should do the trick. Open the shortcut to the game's exe and add -patchrestart to the target line so it looks something like

"C:\Program Files\Need for Speed High Stakes\nfshs.exe" -patchrestart

The next problem you'll encounter is that this causes the game to start in the Multiplayer lobby instead of the main menu. To fix this, go to the folder Data\Menu (inside the game's folder) and rename or delete the following two files:

connect.mnu
RNetLog.mnu
