Everyone yesterday EA announced that the next NFS title will be a reboot & not will pick up from previous titles as a sequel. This title will be simply be called Need for Speed and expect EA to make an announcement at E3 in June. EA is taking suggestions for this title like maybe we can get them to make sure the cops get more cars since the cops do return. In the trailer we get Crown Victorias chasing a Porsche 993 911 GT2 and another car.

Well, I hope to see also Ford police interceptors and chevrolet caprice and another cop cars.

How... in the world... does EA really call it a 'reboot'? How?! Look at the past 20,000 NFS games. There's no story linking them, no iconic characters or setting. How can an NFS game be a reboot? About every game in the series could be considered a reboot. I am just glad they do not call it THE Need for Speed. As for the rest... I quite dislike the Speedhunters cars in Shift 2. And now they are 'defining the urban car culture' or whatever for NFS. Sounds great... no, it doesn't. I am somewhat underwhelmed so far.

Reboot? Looks more like Underground with cops to me. Aka Carbon. dry.png

So Most Wanted got remake, and now Carbon too? I know we already got Hot Pursuit and Rivals in past few years, so we can't really whine anymore, like back in the days of Shift, and ProStreet, or heavens forbid, (absolutely underwhelming) Undercover. But I really wish Need For Speed went precisely back to THE old days. International tracks, possibly international police. Nobody cares that it was more of domain of Test Drive, because lets face it, Test Drive 4 to 6 felt like someone's school project. And I am saying this as somebody who actually liked ph34r.png NFS 5 for PS1.

But they listened to the fans!!!

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 24 2015, 06:09 PM
Who do we ask to make suggestions?

I agree with Dark One; international tracks and police would absolutely make the game (as long as gameplay was decent). Playable cops would make it even better, as long as the game doesn't feel like a demolition derby, like HP2010 and Rivals.

Older European sports cars would be nice to, as well as some Australian cars (the originals; NOT re-badged ones like the Vauxhall Monaro or Pontiac GTO).

Unfortunately the trailer looks a bit like Underground with a Porsche. Experience has taught me that I shouldn't have high hopes for anything that EA makes. I'm underwhelmed too.

I have no idea what 'reboot' means in this context. I guess we'll find out at E3.

I got bad news everyone no playable cops which sucks I hope if this game does well then we can have playable cops again one day in a future title.

Posted by: XJ220 May 26 2015, 07:57 AM
Eh what? A game without playable cops does well and they will add them again in the next game? Because?

I'd hope it does bad, but it won't. Like Battlefield and CoD can not do bad - just because of their name.

Posted by: NFS Police Force May 26 2015, 09:05 AM
Well if it underground it will sell like crazy . That what people have been asking for over 3 years now .So it will sell .

Posted by: ahmad May 26 2015, 10:14 AM
Wait, no be the cop mode, that's not funny.

I got to say, the fans of nfs mostly love underground than most wanted and carbon, because of it had included a more races, that's why they suggested for big variety of races and more types of cars and customizations.

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 26 2015, 02:24 PM
No playable cops ... disappointing. Maybe they'll give the game a storyline. Then it will definitely do badly, like The Run, which was so bad they made a film based on it.

If the fans love Underground, Underground 2, MW, MW and Carbon so much, why don't they just play Underground, Underground 2, MW, MW and Carbon? Is five not enough?

They skipped a year for this? Surely an anniversary-themed game would be much better.

Classic fans got bones thrown at with HP'10 and Rivals.

People in general have been clamoring for a UG sequel for years... it would be stupid from EA if they didn't didn't throw a bone at them.

I have just found information that could cause this game to do badly!

Today EA has announced that the new Need for Speed must be connected to the internet in order to work! After all, that worked so well in SimCity. Has EA learnt nothing from past mistakes? Of course not, because that would be sensible!

What's more, they're giving the game a storyline! Also, the open world is always set at night.

Maybe there is a chance that it won't do well.

But it's very excellent to see the big map than previous games as I am very interested about the city at the night time cuz I play nfs carbon and the lights are gold shining the city streets.

Posted by: NFS Police Force Jun 4 2015, 09:12 AM
No cops no sells . If you look a there sell back .All the games that did not come with cops that you could not play .Thy all flopped . NFS Most Wanted was the best one that did not have cops you could not have play .But you could edit the cars. That why .This will be a flop .

Posted by: XJ220 Jun 5 2015, 02:24 AM
Ummm... neither of the two Underground games had even AI cops, let alone playable police. And I think at least the first one was pretty successful. Moreover, many people have been asking for a new Underground. What makes you think actually doing one will not be a success?

Posted by: Dark One Jun 5 2015, 12:11 PM
Nils, please. The franchise was swarmed by FnF kids, because Underground was literally made to attract their attention, it had everything they ever wanted, and wasn't made on mother's computer over the weekend. But it doesn't mean, that the franchise is theirs now. We are THE fans! dry.png

People were tearing EA apart over STORYLINE in Most Wanted through Undercover, but they still dare to make The RUN, turning it literally into CLICK OR DIE arcade, with playable race/car chase intermissions. And fans almost burned EA down! That's why we got new Most Wanted, which had no such a thing, and played it safe, by fixing what Undercover messed up, and taking from what went well with Hot Pursuit. And that's why we got Rivals, which was almost High Stakes 2, though it still failed to introduce the international settings.

But this new game is just revamped NFS World, playable exclusively online, without actually being an MMO. Nothing to call home about.

Posted by: ahmad Jun 6 2015, 01:30 AM
I love the international tracks, but I love much too every American city because of the lights, buildings and highways that located outside and inside the City, and I love too much the police departments inside United States.

Yeah. THE fans. Numerous and all. NOOOT. EA cares about the numbers not who are >THE< fans. There are quite a lot of people nowadays who seem to think Underground was the first NFS...

At least most people seem to agree that stories do not work in racing games (unless it's a as minimalistic as in Driver San Francisco). If Hot Pursuit (2010) and Rivals were so successful, why not just repeat those games? That's what EA has been doing for decades with sports games.

Posted by: Dark One Jun 6 2015, 12:39 PM
Well, that is the biggest heresy here. EA is claiming to go back to the beginning, doing a reboot, and then what we see is just Carbon/World remake, with storyline rubbed in our faces yet another time, because it worked so well last time around. And "autolog" is yet another feature, that hardcore NFS fans can't imagine their life without, not. dry.png

But FnF kids have their own games, and it's not our fault that these are mediocre at best, if not bad by default. If EA wants to attract them so much, they have enough cash to burn, paying for the brand. NFS went wandering through all sorts of hell already even without that.

I can only hope that if this is their idea of reboot, next game will be A REMAKE of Need for Speed II, with playable cops.

Posted by: NFS Police Force Jun 6 2015, 02:51 PM
Thank you someone think the same thing .It just a amped up Need For Speed World .That why thy are shutting down the old one so thy put the new one on disk and make people pay and probely pay for cars still . It going to be another flop game .

No. No please no. They shall not touch the legacy of Need for Speed II for they would simply ruin it!

We already got FOUR Hot Pursuit games, THREE Most Wanted games, TWO Carbons, TWO Undergrounds, TWO Shifts...

It's not that much to ask for iteration of a game from the good old days, or is it?

HOT PURSUIT was also more of THE NEED FOR SPEED turned into HP2 successor, than anything else.
So whatever the next game will be called, why not wish for NEED FOR SPEED II that is successor to HIGH STAKES?

Or would you prefer EA just remaking Most Wanted and Carbon at random under different names through the next few years?

Posted by: ahmad Jun 8 2015, 01:26 AM
Guys however, the fans don't have a much interest in older nfs because it doesn't have the free roam mode, and also about myself I love hot pursuit 2 and 2010 but I love also nfs franchise games because it included more cars and free roam and a big American city.

I might be getting a PS4 for christmas this year possibly
and I can't wait until the newest nfs game comes and my xbox 360 will not be able to play that game because it is not supported so that is why I want a ps4 later this year

I'd rather consider HP2010 a mix of HP and HP2, not much TNFS in it IMO.

Anyhow, I can't imagine EA will not ruin the brand entirely. They did with Command & Conquer, which they cared for much more. And should NFS go down, I do not want it to even remotely look like NFS2 wink.png

But I would most certainly not mind a, say, Rivals 2. I actually enjoyed its 'story' bits and the overall 'I am your rival' theme as well as the selection of cars and the map.

But then again, all I was trying to say was that I do not think we're representing a majority of the NFS consumer crowd. We're discussing the upcoming UG3/Carbon 2 here and not our dreams of the perfect NFS tongue.png

Maybe this game will do so badly that EA sells the franchise and Synetic buys it ... nah, I don't think that would ever happen. Still, I wouldn't mind seeing an NFS game made by Synetic. They made pretty good games like Mercedes-Benz World Racing and World Racing 2. They've even made police-themed games based on a TV series.

I have thoughts of HS successors too. The main things I would want in a new game would be playable cops, reasonably realistic gameplay and international scenery. It is possible to have more than one open world, as Synetic proved with its two World Racing games.

I'm done with any new NFS game until they go back to the HighStakes International locale format dry.png mad.png All their "stuck in one country" is pissing me off, They need to expand their options and add locales and police from foreign lands again, They are getting BORING.

It's almost amusing to look back to 2015, knowing just how much of fail that game was. And then they had guts to come with Payback, which was literally a FnF game with Need For Speed tittle glued to it. dry.png I'm afraid that they will never learn. sleep.png

Sadly your right , which is why I'll stick with the older games , at least they have charm and can be modded unlike 2015 and even Payback .

Posted by: MNaeemi777 Aug 2 2018, 10:10 PM
NFS covers its problems and bugs with some effects and action contents, specially Payback. By the way, NFS 2015 is similar to GTA Online and modding is forbidden, unless the EA won't care about them and someone's are succeed to mod a few things for Payback and car sound files are same with Carbon files. It's near to be able to mod cars too. smile.png
