New Zealand Police are appealing for sights of a vehicle that may be related to the short-lived kidnapping of a 5-year-old girl in Palmerston North (don't worry, it had a happy ending).

News agencies reported that the car spotted on CCTV is "a late-model Nissan Maxima".

This is the exact picture that they used (from Wikipedia):

Late-model? laugh.png They even said that on national television! With the same picture!

In case you are wondering, the car on the CCTV footage is the same model as the one in the pic. They showed the footage on telly as well.

I know that NZ's civilian vehicle fleet has possibly the oldest average age in the West, but this is ridiculous.

To be fair, the average vehicle age here is probably because NZ has one of the highest classic car ownership rates in the world. happy.png

Here is the article if you were curious.

I'm definitely not trying to play down the seriousness of the whole incident, just so you know. I'm as thankful as anyone else that it wasn't worse.

Perhaps a late-80's-model? Or maybe it was one of the last produced Maximas of that generation ^^

Anyhow, good to know the kidnappers failed.

Well, technically he didn't fail; he just let her go 2 hours later.

Anyway, an arrest was made today biggrin.png .
