EDIT (11 May 17): This is the new topic for all of my HS mods from 2017 onwards.
---

I just made a Unity RV-26/46 today; as used by Michigan State Police and a handful of other agencies. I made it by modifying the Dominion beacon I made a while back. The RV-26 (2-bulb) has 210 polies, the RV-46 (4-bulb) has 258 and the LED retrofit has 154. There's probably some room for improvement, so I won't post it yet.

EDIT (25 Jan 17): I just found the right textures for the LED version, so I've altered the screenshot accordingly.

Looks great, But I thought this light only came with the small white stripes on the cover, I didn't know they also had solid covers too huh.png . Carbondale police used that same light back in the 1970's along with lolipop lights added to the bar.

Posted by: Dark One Jan 27 2017, 07:39 AM
The solid red one is for that retro LED beacon. And I'm pretty sure that other police departments of the time used it with the solid color as well. But I still think that Michigan State Police should have switched to some LED lightbar, when they couldn't get new ones anymore.

It became the tradition, because the beacon was brighter than anything else on the market, but now they are using the 'same' beacon retrofitted with LEDs, BECAUSE it became the tradition. rolleyes.gif It already looked awkward on the Charger, and the first generation was ordered only in slicktop version just for sure, but on the Interceptors it's downright silly. tongue.png

There is also a sheriff in Michigan using LED gumball lights on new cars, I'll show you the vid when I get home, Damn security blocks YouTube here mad.png .

The city of Chelsea in MI used the RV-46 on their 1999 and 2002 CVPIs; but their later cars have the Whelen Liberty instead.

My Canadian Provincial series has started! I will now be working only on agencies that police the roads in a particular province (apart from that request I just took). I hope to make pre-VEG-patch compatible traffic cars as well.

Here is the first car:

Posted by: BrabusAMG Feb 25 2017, 01:17 AM
Also, I'm making a new CVPI base out of Dodge Boy's (via a BoxCarRacer mod) and I want to have all 6 wheel types available. Does anyone know of an HS car with these wheels?

user posted image

I have the other 5 types (4 of them by Nils), but I can't find this one.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Mar 6 2017, 12:36 AM
The wheel types are currently in a separate file. They will be separate on release too (for the 01 - 11 model); it saves having to delete 20 wheels when you make a car tongue.png.

Here's a progress shot of the body. It now has body lines as well as parts and textures from Nils's CVPI. I also made a new grille texture for it.

wink.png That what I think it is gonna be? If so don't forget they also had a black&white one with the Michigan State Police gumball and diffrent door decals used from the OLD era tongue.png. Might as well do both smile.png.

How did you know? laugh.png

Actually the colours are coincidental; but I am going to do the two cars you mentioned happy.png.

I have decided to try making the hubcaps myself, by overlaying a textured disc on Nils's late-model steelies. The textures have been a bit problematic.

I don't know if I have the same wheels in my mind but is this something you can use?

Gr. Code 4

Posted by: BrabusAMG Mar 8 2017, 09:03 PM
Definitely! They aren't the same wheels I was talking about, but those wheels look a lot better than the original '98 steelies. If you could send them to me, that would be great happy.png. Just the HLFW and textures are needed wink.png.

By the way, before you release that Miami-Dade car, you might want to check out the StreetHawk I uploaded in the Member Bases section. It's based on Nils's, so it is more detailed than the old one you're using. It's better to have a detailed lightbar on a high-detail car wink.png.

Posted by: Code 4 Mar 9 2017, 02:35 AM
You've got mail!

I will take a look at the lightbar for the Miami-Dade car.

The colors are what gave it away tongue.png . I think only RCMP had that scheme.

When importing the wheels, I also noticed that later versions of the '99 steel wheels had different caps, judging by reference pics. This means that there are 7 wheel variants for the CVPI.

Also, my OPP 1985 Ford LTD Crown Victoria is now ready! The poly count is 4675. Starting with this car, I have also set up a performance and engine sound format (which car uses what) which will be applied to all of my future cars, including remakes of my old ones.

I used the crown and "O.P.P." lettering from BoxCarRacer's Dodge Charger (I hope you don't mind; I just couldn't get anything else to work).

This is officially my first car for 2017! Now that this car is finished, I will start working on updating Nils's Whelen Edge, which I have been putting off for too long.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Mar 29 2017, 08:00 PM
In other news, I finally got a menu shot to work!

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 6 2017, 01:35 AM
Part 1 of of the Whelen Edge series is complete! I have made 10 variants already; they will be uploaded shortly.

Further parts to this series will come sometime later. Next up, I will make two more cars for my Canadian series.

Posted by: slego9 Apr 6 2017, 12:30 PM
Those light bars look freakin sweet.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 16 2017, 06:07 PM
I think so too biggrin.png, and I have to thank XJ220 for that, since he did all the work; making it for his Ohio State Highway Patrol Cherokee. My edits were fairly minor.

I have now completed my next two Canadian cars: an 1993 Caprice and a 1994 CVPI, both from the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary. Unfortunately, the screenshots are low-quality due to issues with the Modern Patch.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 16 2017, 06:09 PM
Next up will be two more lightbar updates and then another Canadian car. You could say that the car will be a bit of a wild card, since it doesn't fit into the provincial/territorial series that I haven't finished yet wink.png.

Here's the next screenshot:

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 19 2017, 06:06 PM
The first lightbar update is complete. I think I'll move the second project back a bit and work on the car first, since it will use this lightbar.

It's the D&R PL-46 Prowler that BoxCarRacer made from Nils's Code 3 X2100; but I have tweaked it for accuracy and split it into the 4 variants I discovered from photos.

The Prowler is quite commonly used in Canada, since it's a Canadian lightbar.

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 5 2017, 06:47 PM
The "wild card" is now uploaded (more information in the Request Forum), so next up will be lightbar and car base updates.

I'd like to thank FranknFurter for taking these screenshots happy.png.

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 10 2017, 07:42 PM
The first lightbar update is finished. I modified the MX7000 from BoxCarRacer's Sûreté du Québec CVPI. I gave it an all-light variant and several options.

Next will be the JetSonic/JetStream/JetStrobe.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Jun 15 2017, 10:52 PM
I have delayed the JetSonic again, since I started work on a very old lightbar (more will be revealed later wink.png). I also optimised a few of my bases today, for personal use. I will also focus on cars a bit more, since I want to get my queue finished.

I have finished the next provincial police car now. It is also the first mod made with the 79 - 82 Ford LTDs that Louis made.

This car was quite challenging, because the only reference photo I could find was an old (but thankfully high-res) black-and-white photo of the car's left side! I did, however, know a site that could tell me what kind of number plate it would have had.

I present the Royal Newfoundland Constabulary 1980 Ford LTD-S:

Yeah I'd say red/blue too judging from the pic, What's funny is RCMP had both red and red/blue gumballs on their cars way back, I saw one in my police cars book that has red ones only, It's a pitty all the pics in the book is black&white, I wish they did them in color..The cover has a color pic though of a 1976 Dodge Coronet CHP car.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Jun 23 2017, 02:21 PM
Some provinces traditionally preferred red only (Manitoba and Ontario in particular), which is why RCMP cruisers in those provinces had all red. RCMP cars in ON still had all red in the mid-2000s.

I have noticed an issue with the car base. The LTD-S doesn't seem to have the chrome strip on the C-pillar in real life, but the 3D model does.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Jul 2 2017, 05:03 PM
By the way, I decided to do civilian vehicles as well. On Louis's HS topic, Rider66 asked if there were any civilian versions of some of the new cars. There weren't, so I have decided to make the cars in question.

Here is the first; the 1986 Chevrolet Caprice:

Exellent, would you like me to send you a project me and Lou whipped up together but was never released yet?, A Ohio Highway Patrol 1977 Chevy Impala, It needs body lines cut into it since it was made using the OLD DodgeBoy base before Lou revised it.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Jul 4 2017, 02:01 AM
A 1977 Impala? Sounds interesting. Sure, send it and I'll see what I can do.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Jul 12 2017, 08:59 PM
I have looked at the file and it's really a Caprice with Impala textures put on; so I'll make a 77 -
79 Impala base first. I'm already working on the 80 - 85 Impala, so it shouldn't be too hard.

As a sideline, I also made a car that I've been wanting to make for quite a while. It's a South Carolina Highway Patrol 2005 Mustang made to replace the Pursuit Corvette.

Yes, It was edited by me and CVPI, The Caprice and Impala use the exact same bodytype with only minor changes so we knew it could be made using that base but if you wanna make your own that's cool too,Just this would have saved you some extra work.

I always prefer realism biggrin.png. The car also has 4 international textures, because I made it from XJ220's Pursuit Mustang.

On another subject, I have done more work on the M-Body lately. The interior and the body lines are almost finished happy.png.

I did lots more work on the M-Body today; I spent almost the whole day on it. The joys of free time!

The body lines are now finished and I am now applying the new texture file biggrin.png. I also got a new texture for the rear lights.

biggrin.png Beautiful. You want also to do the K series (Plymouth Reliant, etc.) ? These was the rare police cars.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Jul 23 2017, 08:30 PM
I'm not sure about that; because as I said, I can't scratch-build cars yet.

Here's the latest M-Body progress report. The whole car is almost finished; I just need to make the ODL, nameplates and two other front seat types, then I'll make the different models and years. I even did the normals myself biggrin.png; although I still can't do them in Zmodeler, so I used FCE Finish.

You might notice that the grille has transparent gaps using alpha-channel, to allow for lights behind the grille. I also made the holes in the steel wheels transparent, to make it look more realistic. The car's current poly count is 2935 with the steel wheels and 2887 with the hubcaps.

I am pleased to announce that the M-Body is now finished! biggrin.png

Each variant comes with the steel wheels and the hubcaps, so you can select which wheels you want. Each variant has a different interior, because I thought it would be easier than including every possible seat option. I also gave them different colours, to make it easier to get the interior colour you need. The cars are identical, so it's easy to swap interiors and textures around.

Only the outer headlights have dummies and ODL, because the inner headlights aren't lit up in any of the pictures I saw. They might be fog lights or possibly high-beam-only. Some agencies turned them into coloured flashers.

Credits go to Dodge Boy for the original, Frank Wahl for some of the ODL textures and Louis for the low-poly Caprice PPV wheels, which I modified into the two M-Body wheel types.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Aug 1 2017, 08:35 PM
The car also has a rear plate ODL and includes a set plate texture (which will make the ODL easier to use). The front plate and side trim are optional. Only 1986+ models had the third brake light.

I should mention that a few details on the sides are textured instead of modelled, because they didn't really need it. They don't look out of place, though; I made sure of that wink.png.

Sure, Got my email right? Or you might be able to stick them in a PM, Don't know. I think the lightbar is correct though, It's Frank's from his RCMP car,Same I used on the 1990 SDQ Caprice though since the Caravelle isn't a widebody I had to sinch the edges to make it fit right on the roof, Looking at pics I don't think they had roof numbers on these Caravelles like they did older cars., I'll keep looking.

I've had the https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/3/37/Voitures_SQ.jpg version of that picture for a while, because I liked it so much. I actually used it as a reference when making the new base (and when making the Dominion lightbar). It shows the car's roof reasonably well.

Posted by: Paul Spain Aug 30 2017, 05:43 AM
Forgot to tell ya, Don't bother trying to better the normals in FCE Finish 2, I tried and even though it helped on the hood stars it made the back sides and trunk look odd and I had to add new normals to fix that and even then the result wasn't the same as before looked so I scrapped that and went with the CHP base as is to make other police cars.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Aug 30 2017, 02:47 PM
I did the original normals using Oleg M's recommended method -- detaching various parts of the car body to get the desired result -- except I used FCE Finish for the actual calculations. I tried to get it as accurate as I could, but I can't do normals any other way; so if some of the normals aren't accurate, I'm afraid I can't do much about that sad.png.

Anyway, did you get the Caravelle I sent? It should only need mapping to complete it. If you're looking for a good flash pattern, I can recommend the setup that Frank put on his RCMP LTD. It's about as accurate as HS Dummies can get; I used the same pattern for my RNC LTD-S wink.png.

I got it finally, I'd checked last night and even though you sent it it seems there was some delay on me getting it, I finally got it today, I noticed your Dominion lightbar is made diffrent from Frank's version, Your's has more accurate footies so I'll remap and use your Caravelle to make this car smile.png.

Awesome! Just one thing ... these cars did not have the chrome stripe at the bottom of the side windows or on the B-pillar, which is why I didn't put them on the base.

Looking forward to the surprise! I only hope it isn't a Metro Toronto Police Caravelle, because I'm halfway through making one (spoilers!).

Yeah, Looking at the pic and others of Caravelle police units I see that now, I will remove that bit and update the file, I don't know why but for some reason it won't let me upload them to our server if I leave the name having the ^ and ' marks on the title..I guess it don't like them. So I had to rename the zip file to just Surete Du Quebec in the title dry.png .

It's certainly rare now, but they were quite common in Ontario in the '70s and '80s. Toronto started it in 1957 and other agencies decided to copy them. The Soviets used yellow cars around that time too.

The Toronto car is now uploaded and I also have an in-game picture:

I think I will finish off my Canadian Provincial series now. The reason I took a break is because of a custom I started with the Mustang: when I make a new base, I will make a couple of mods from it before doing anything else.

PS: In HS, is it possible to unlock the NFS3 tracks by being a cop, or do I have to play Career mode? I recently got HS working on my laptop (my main computer) and I would like to unlock the tracks and cars normally, if I can.

Today, I did some more work on the Impala base. I think the body is finished; I just need to do the normals and final touches. I will probably make a Bel Air version as well, since police forces in Québec tended to use that instead of the Impala.

I made it by grafting the front and back of Frank's LAPD Impala onto the '86 Caprice base, since the middle section was basically the same.

Wonderful wink.png . I will redo my Majorette police cars using this..If you'd like to complete the Chevy police fleet I know where a 1976 Nova lurks, But it needs a body mod from 2 to 4 doors dry.png sad.png .

Max I would refrain from using the hubcap for the 6th generation Impalas thats too high poly the wheels from the caprice would be more low poly.

Posted by: Paul Spain Sep 17 2017, 08:16 AM
You could use the same wheels Frank used on his, They look like those but are likely lower poly, For me however polys is no longer a issue thanks to Veg wink.png .

Posted by: BrabusAMG Sep 17 2017, 01:58 PM
They are the same wheels wink.png. Since they are more realistic, I will also use them on the Caprice in future. I could import the lower-poly wheels for traffic cars. I have the VEG patch too, so poly counts aren't much of an issue anymore; but I still like to keep them low where I can. However, there are quite a few modern car bases that are higher-poly than this will be.

Also, I found out that unlocking the bonus cars and tracks is not as simple as I had hoped; but the "All Cars and Tracks" mod from the EP doesn't work anymore. I tried copying the config.dat file from my other computer, but that didn't work either.

I think I might know what the problem is ...

On Windows 7 (on my laptop at least), if you edit a file (like a VIV file) and save it in Program Files, with a tool such as NFS Wizard, the program "locks" the file. The resulting file can only be accessed in NFS Wizard and can't be seen in Windows Explorer.

I'm not sure exactly how this works, because some "locked" files work in the game and some don't. A car.viv will still work and can't be replaced unless you look through folders in NFS Wizard's "Open" function and delete the file there. However, a siren.bnk won't work, so the game uses the file from the CD.

Since the EP patches the config.dat in the HS directory (in Program Files), it must have "locked" the file, so the mod doesn't work. I'll see if that's the problem wink.png.

Are you set as the Admin? I found by default most PCs and Laptops tend to set the owners (even though it shows your account as OWNER) to user vs admin status thus stopping you from controlling alot. Oh God if you have Norton uninstall that crap for sure biggrin.png laugh.png . Also there is a neat thing you can do to enable a mode known as God Mode which gives you full powers.

Create a folder anywhere though preferably DeskTop and name it this:

What a great job on these M-Bodies! Definitely both Caravelle and Diplomat are my favourite cars now. Had redone whole CARP using info on 318-4V from the database, through. Anyway, two winter shots. Veg's patch, Madman's Snowy Ridge and the Diplomat. Images slightly rescaled by 50% from original 1920x1080.

Great job on every detail and polygon distribution.
By the way, any chance to see some civilian and/or unmarked versions?

Posted by: BrabusAMG Sep 25 2017, 07:08 PM
Thanks! happy.png

Yes, I am thinking of making an unmarked Toronto Police unit soon, as well as a civilian traffic replacement. I could easily make a racer version as well.

By the way, your carp.txt could be useful for people who want accurate performance. Would you be able to attach it to a reply http://nfspolicehq.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=912&st=0&#entry5025?

Posted by: BrabusAMG Oct 1 2017, 01:32 PM
I saw the link in the other thread; thanks! I will use that performance file when I make the civilian version happy.png.

Also, I solved the problem I mentioned earlier. After lots of research (Googling), I found the answer in the https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/windows_7-files/finding-hiddenlocked-folders-in-windows-7/77c04068-c834-4ec3-bf9a-da86f91ffb99. The config.dat in the NFS folder was only a decoy; the real one was in a secret folder in C:/Users. I replaced the real config.dat with the new one from my other computer and I can now drive on all tracks! biggrin.png

Posted by: Rider66 Oct 1 2017, 02:22 PM
Sure, I'll take care about making slightly different version for 318-2V then cool.png
And now, I'm working on improving CARP - since I wasn't too happy with some parameters. But could be slightly updated even further - if there's any weight distribution info on M-Bodies. I suppose it should be something close to 54/46. So now, the improved version is available at the same location, I updated the file on Google.
Meanwhile, another pic from me.

Is there an easy-to-follow tutorial for making a carp.txt? I'm making a civilian Dodge Charger V6 and I would like it to have the 8-speed gearbox.

Posted by: Rider66 Oct 10 2017, 02:58 AM
Never tried a setup with 8-speed. Structure of the file seems to support 8, but I'm not aware of any cars released with such configuration. But then again, since both are overdrives according to the info, in worst case they could be just omitted I believe.
Anyway, there's a tutorial, Frank did it sometime ago, and I added some notes on calculations of missing data:
http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1844.0
Also, you should keep in mind that RealTuner gives quite specific setup as is. It doesn't provide weight distribution option and/or amount of drive ratio per front/back axis, so you have to calculate it by hand. At least that's how I'm doing it now, with some multipliers I found to be more or less balanced ones.
AJ made a great thing by converting old Justin Martin's tutorial into PDF aswell, and you can find more info on that here:
http://www.nfsaddons.com/forums//index.php?topic=1712.0

HS only supports up to 6 forward gears, any further than that will make your car behave weirdly

Posted by: BrabusAMG Oct 11 2017, 07:40 PM
OK, I'll have to give it the 5-speed then.

As an interim project, I decided to make something that I could use as a modern Pursuit SUV replacement. It has 5498 polies, so it will only work with the VEG patch. For that reason, I'll only release the player version.

I present the 2013 RCMP Chevy Tahoe:

This will be the latest-model RCMP vehicle on this site so far. I gave it a BC plate, because Rocky Pass would be in either Alberta or British Columbia; and I decided to replace Summit with NFS2's Pacific Spirit, which can only have been set in BC.

I've edited the Charger's carp.txt as well as I can (following the tutorial), but it seems to crash the game when I click "Race" (or once it loads the track). I put a standard carp.txt in (making a backup of the WIP) and it worked fine. Maybe it's because I hadn't altered the acceleration table? I've started working on that; I'll do more tomorrow.

Posted by: Rider66 Oct 12 2017, 02:01 AM
Can you PM that carp of yours, or link it to the members thread? I think I can take a look at this one. Will try that on some of the models I've got. Also, I'm interested in doing that proposed 8-2 overdrives setup (giving 6 gears) I've been talking about earlier. So, if you're interested, just let me know on exact Charger model, and I'll gather the info I need after.

The Charger is almost ready to be released happy.png.

Meanwhile, I have also done more work on the Impala. I haven't done the normals yet, but I made a few needed modifications. Here is a preview:

Posted by: Rider66 Nov 2 2017, 12:36 AM
Looks quite detailed. How much polies in current front-end?

Posted by: BrabusAMG Nov 2 2017, 12:55 AM
There are 146 in the grille and headlight assembly. The holes in the grille are made with alpha-channel.

Also, the wheel has 232. I made them from the 1990 LTD's hubcaps. The Impala should have under 3500 when it's done.

This car will only be released to the staff, since it's a modification of a staff car.

Yes, but this one will be made into a proper base, with modelled door lines and plain textures. I figured it was better to start from scratch with a project like that.

I've finally completed the Charger's vidwall and uploaded the file today. Here is a picture:

The track is Rocky Pass 2008, if anyone wants to know.

The distinctive taillight outline on this model will appear on every Charger I make in the future. I gave it a proper texture instead of the basic red on my last (and first) Charger, the Kentville Police version.

This Charger is one of dangerous cops in NFS 2015. Most of gamers got busted by this, because they are so fast and heavy as Challenger, but this time, seems racers have this and cops shouldn't have chances for busting them right now. laugh.png Love this car and great job buddy. smile.png

There are only a few I know of that does is on NFS Cars, He goes by NFSFan83 but he seems to heavily focus on famous U.S. locales like Las Vegas,L.A.S.F.,and N.Y. he has done a few tracks of other countries but not too many. I was wanting him to do a china one since he did Japan and HongKong but still there is no China one, He also I think mentioned the possibility of doing the Moscow track from Test Drive 5 since he ripped those textures.

Then there is WiLL on NFS Addons (probably a better bet) as he seems more active recently and loves track making.

Bad news. HS recently stopped working on my laptop sad.png. I don't know what caused it. I thought it might be a track I installed, so I reset the tracks to factory default; it didn't change anything. I thought it might be a car I recently installed, so I took the most recent ones out; that didn't work either. It can't be because there are too many cars in the folder; I only have 42.

Any ideas? I'm stuck. When I open the EXE, it crashes and gives me the "NFS4 has stopped working" message. Next, I get this:

You can only have 40 cars and not the same serial numbers and not to may high poly cars .

I thought the limit was 50 cars? But anyway you can't have more than the limit, The Veg Patch breaks poly limits but don't get rid of the limit on number of vehicles it seems.

Posted by: NFS Police Force Apr 29 2018, 05:03 PM
My bad it 50 . If you have to may high poly cars it will crash I know that . If you keep on have problems just do a fresh install and reinstall the cars one by one . I have had to do that several times .Remember to save your cars . If you took out any game cars it will crash .

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 29 2018, 05:16 PM
That's another thing: I made sure there were no serial number conflicts and I avoid cars with more than 10,000 polies. Maybe I'll just have to re-install the game.

I just had a look at the Moscow section now; do both of the CVs have the same lightbar model? I downloaded the '93 when you first uploaded it, but the ZIP file couldn't be opened or extracted. It was some sort of file corruption (which is kind of appropriate now that I think about it laugh.png).

To answer your question, far as I know only the 1992-1997 Ford CrownVics of ГАИ used the Code3 Force4, The newer CrownVic (from Sochi) has a different light bar that looks like a smashed down Code3 MX7000.

There have been some delays in posting this car and nobody's guessed it yet, so here's the answer: The paint scheme is from Sonic Adventure DX, on the cars seen in Station Square.

The lightbar flash pattern is seen in the game's first cutscene, so I copied it for the HS model. I will use the same lightbar and flash pattern for all of my Station Square vehicles. I will also make the vidwalls by using screenshots of the original vehicle. The screenshot I used for a vidwall will be included on that car's photo montage.

I finished the second SSPD vehicle at the same time as the Diplomat. I'll upload it soon. I'm planning to release the cars in chronological order, going by model year. The last two will have some more subtle references to the game. wink.png

Sonic Adventure DX and Max do you plan to make a Ford Crown Victoria in the scheme of Station Square Police from the Dreamcast version of Sonic Adventure or based on the scheme from Sonic X?

Posted by: BrabusAMG Aug 24 2018, 02:40 AM
I'm planning on doing a '98 Crown Victoria, since that's the same year that Sonic Adventure was first released. Also, the '98 has orange indicators on the back, just like the game car. The paint scheme will be the same as the previous cars. I'll finish off the series with an '03 Impala, since 2003 was the year Sonic Adventure DX was released.

I don't think I've seen the livery from the Dreamcast version, unless it's the Japanese-inspired livery seen in DX's cutscenes. Is that it?

If i did a vehicle from Sonic X, I would try to find an Alfa Romeo 155, since the police cars in Sonic X look like Alfas (well, to me they do).

I can't believe how much time has passed since my last upload! I've been really busy with other things lately, such as moving to a new house. I've finally gotten round to making another car. biggrin.png

This is probably a first for this site: a car from a Native American (or First Nations if you're Canadian) tribal police service. This Charger is from the Blood Tribe Police Service in Alberta.

user posted image

The Blood Tribe reserve (aka Kainai reserve) is the largest First Nations reserve in Canada. This particular paint scheme was featured in Blue Line Magazine's "Best Dressed Police Vehicle" contest.

It may look simple, but it was actually quite challenging to make, because our Charger model has limited texture space, even after I revised the base to give it more.

Wow! It's been a whole year since my last release!

Part of the reason is that my laptop finally died in June, so I had to use other PCs around the house. I still have my 20-year-old Compaq desktop, but I can't use it for everything. In September I was able to take the laptop to a repair shop to see what the problem was. It was diagnosed as a motherboard failure. There was no point fixing it, since the laptop was 8 years old and getting quite slow.

Fortunately, the Hard Drive wasn't broken, so I could still get the data from it. I started building a custom Windows 10 PC myself. When that was finally done (with its own set of problems to tackle), I just installed the old Hard Drive and the new PC can still use Windows 7! biggrin.png (It's not a true dual-boot system, though; I have to go into the BIOS at startup and tell the motherboard to boot with the old HDD.)

Unfortunately, it's been having problems with doing that now; the PC always wants to do a disk check every time I try to boot the Win7 drive. But the past couple of times, it's gone back to Windows 10 after completing the check.

That means I haven't been able to take any in-game screenshots of my latest car, so here's a Zmod shot. It's the third vehicle in my Station Square series, a 1998 CVPI:

My Viper conked out a couple days back, so I'm back to my ole PC now BUT thanks to the Viper, It's a monster, I now have 16 GB RAM in it biggrin.png laugh.png , Viper had more RAM but less powerful vid card than this PC, so the vid card is the same (2GB NVidia GTX 550 TI) (Viper only had a 1GB card that I don't recall the name of) Only things diffrent are I slapped in Viper's 1TB Hdd (so I wouldn't loose my stuff so I still have NFS HighStakes with no need to reinstall thanks to Veg Patch making the game transferable, Also still have every thing I was working on before. happy.png .

My first upload for 2020! I decided to dust off the '87 - '90 Caprice base, because I haven't used it in 4 years!

user posted image

This is an '89 model from the Winnipeg Police. I also made a traffic version, since this car only has 3300 polies. I like this paint scheme, so I plan to make an LTD with it sometime. I've got a bit more time on my hands due to the lockdown, so I hope to complete at least one more project in the coming weeks.

By the way, I've run into a problem when playing HS on Windows 7: when I run a race, the driving view is blank, but the HUD is perfectly visible. In the graphics settings, the Screen Size box simply says "BAD TEXT INDEX 0", so that must be the reason. I can't think what would cause that.

Good to see you back with this nice car.

Odd problem you have there, Do you have dashview? I run HS on Windows 10 (and XP)
and haven't had that.

"BAD TEXT INDEX 0" , I only saw this message when I had 50 cars in game

You play with Veg Patch? If you do the cause of "Bad Text Index" is after you installed it you went into the game's menu and tried to change the resolution setting, Can't do that, You have to play with the way you selected when installed Veg Patch. Annoying but that's how it does.

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 22 2020, 08:57 PM
That must be it. Will I have to re-install the patch or game to fix it?

In other news, I've revisited my unfinished lightbar models. I just finished a Vector/Vision (which I will use on a car shortly) and I've recently moved onto the FedSig Jet-series. Here's a picture of my progress:

I'm trying to find the best balance between detail and poly load. I will also make the mini versions of the JetStream and JetStrobe.

I'm also working on a few civilian vehicles, but they won't be ready for a while.

Here's one of the civilian vehicles I was talking about. It's a modification of Nils's 1998 Blazer. I haven't even touched the bumper or lower body cladding yet, so they're still Chevy-spec. But here's a sample of what I've done so far.

Is this the Opel Blazer or GMC Jimmy variant of the S-10 Blazer that you are working on or no? Also Max what about the PI Sedan/Special Service Sedan interior textures were you able to draw new ones yet or no?

Opel's version is called Frontera and Isuzu also copied that calling it Rodeo anyway from the front it looks to be the Oldsmobile equal to those (split in grill gave it away).

Posted by: BrabusAMG Apr 28 2020, 02:24 PM
You're right, it's the Oldsmobile Bravada. I'll also make a multi-texture pursuit version when it's finished, just like Nils usually did. I won't be giving it body lines, though, because there's no need to make a base from it. But I do plan to make a Blazer/Jimmy base eventually. I hope to make a few more Oldsmobiles from the bases we have.

(And by the way, the Opel Frontera was the copy; the original was the https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Isuzu_MU.)

Well if you want to gohead and make a Isuzu Rodeo/Opel Frontera DO give that bodylines as several Police vehicles can be made from that. wink.png

and put in on the Police Quest 2 Police Dodge Diplomat I did and have yet to bring forth to here.

Paul, I recommend waiting until these new lightbars are released. That old one was made before I knew how a JetSonic was put together. The new ones are far more accurate, since I used pictures as references. Also, I updated the Diplomat base a while ago. It has some fixed issues as well as a door sill mapping guide.

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 6 2020, 09:27 PM
They're done! I even made versions with solid-colour lenses, just in case. But before I release them, I want to use at least one of them on a car, to make sure they work.

Great job. Now I'm curious if you plan on improoving FrankNFurter's AeroDynic and TwinSonic variants? Or do you like them as is? The only real thing I see about them is there was no Mini version made or version made that has diffrent rotator setups, But it's no trouble to mod the rotator setups for me moving things round in CarCad.

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 13 2020, 08:55 PM
I do plan on doing that, but not in the near future. I have long been thinking of making my own TwinSonic from scratch, since it has a simple design.

Posted by: Michael_Mcknight May 14 2020, 07:08 AM
Go for it.

Posted by: Paul Spain May 27 2020, 08:15 PM
I have a theory on JetSonic rotators, Are they the same ones used in StreetHawk? The overall shape seemed simular in pics and videos I have saw.

Posted by: BrabusAMG May 28 2020, 03:17 PM
That's what I thought at first, but on closer inspection, the JetSonic rotators are more rectangular; StreetHawk rotators have a trapezoidal shape.

Posted by: Paul Spain Jul 5 2020, 05:33 AM
Any update on the JetSonic/JetStream? I eargerly await so I can revamp many cars with them. happy.png

Sorry for the delay; I've posted them now.

I think I'll need to make a more comprehensive tutorial on using the alpha-channel transparency method, since the one I've already made is too abridged and hard to follow. This method a great way to save polies while getting the transparency you want, but learning it can be difficult. That said, once you have learnt it, it's fairly easy to do.

Maybe it's good for those with low power PCs but I stick to just doing it simple, by make 3x lenses 😉 since polys aren't much a issue for me now with VegPatch. On the way to work now, I'll download the Jets when I get off duty, thanks man 🙂.

Ok, Got one done with first use of your JetStream, It looks better in game than on ZModeler, Just have to add front plates and then I'll put it up.
