I have some sad news due to GM closing its Holden Elizabeth South Australia plant later this year the Caprice PPV, its civilian counterparts from Australia & the Middle East, & all VF Commodore variants including the Chevrolet SS are no more. For the time being there is no direct replacement for the Caprice in the works at the moment. Likely agencies will keep using Tahoes, Ford PI Sedans & Utilities, and Dodge Charger Pursuits for their fleets.

Chevrolet can't be bothered making a lower-spec Impala? Seems a bit short-sighted, but then again, this is GM.

I'm also surprised, that they won't use it as an excuse to reintroduce the Impala PPV. But you've said it yourself, and I couldn't tell it any better.
