After many requests for a pursuit-rated hybrid, Ford has finally answered by making a police special version of the Fusion (aka the Mondeo in Europe and Oceania). A fine choice, I must say . Whenever I see a Mondeo, I usually imagine what it would look like as a police car.
They haven't yet said what the petrol engine is, but the new Ford Police Responder only does 6.8 L per 100 km (34.6 mpg), has a Lithium-ion battery and can run on that alone at 100 km/h! Looks pretty sweet, doesn't it? But since it's only mid-size (although I'm pretty sure it's full-size down here ), it won't carry as much as the Interceptor, which means you'll never see a CHP Responder; although the LAPD is very interested. I really hope they'll make the Responder in right-hand-drive, because they would be awesome in New Zealand . Maybe it would even be enough to make the NZ Police switch allegiance (again). Of course, this now means that someone will have to make a new NFS base . -------------------- |

It was only matter of time. And while NYPD is using the Fusion well since the previous generation, it didn't surprised me at all that with all the ecological craze California is (in)famous for, LAPD wants some too.

I think you might be confusing this car with the Interceptor .
This is a Fusion, not a Taurus. It was released literally this week. We only have a 2010 Fusion base. -------------------- |

From the front, definitely. The nudge-bar, black paint and camera lighting don't exactly help either . At least GM paint their promotional cars silver .
Also, I just realised that this topic should probably have been in the "Real Police Car Talk" section . Anyway, here's the Ford website with more pictures. I think the Mondeo looks better , especially since I've seen tons of them in person. Ford also did a nice animation on their police car history: It was nice of them to forget about the 92 - 97 Crown Vic . That's a pity, because I think they're the best looking CVPIs . -------------------- |

I was going to check in anyone posted about this. These cars have a pretty heafty price tag (Although Ford says it will pay itself off in gas/petrol)

No doubt it will. The engine is a 2L I4 that only does 6.8 L per 100 km and is only used at highway speeds or when the battery needs topping up.
Also, I found a Fusion 3D model on that site that Paul got that Chery from. That could be useful , although we can't really make any Responder mods until they start being used. -------------------- |

I want to stress though that site isn't FREE, You have to pay a subscriber fee, BUT no worries, I'm good til Novemeber 25 so anything we need we can get, (as I: for several reason, don't condone those pay to join up things offering vehicle models cause there's numerous reasons that is WRONG!!,say the least the builders don't have the ok from the vehicle manufacturers to make profit from 3D models of their vehicles..So my goal is to get these and redistribute them freely, Hopingly some day putting these type sites to an end ) Anyway back to topic . If you wanna do the police versions I say why wait til it comes out "officially" ? Gohead. No telling what will happen between now and then so just make all the police cars you want from it. Now some of their models up are higher poly so you might need the Veg Patch to use them. -------------------- I'm 10-80..All units 10-0!
