Everyone here's a thread for my projects for games that use high detailed models. The first is a remake of Dodge Boy's 87-90 Caprice 9C1 which the original was lost & was in CHP form. Credits to Dodge Boy for the original mesh his California Highway Patrol 1990 Chevrolet Caprice Slicktop, & to NFS Police Force for sending me the car. It took me 4 days to do & here's some of the things I have done to the car. I might go back & remake the 1986 model as well maybe even the 1978-1985 Impala 9C1 range as well.

Here's the front bumper for what will eventally become my Australian Holden WM Caprice V Series II & Middle Eastern Chevrolet Caprice SS for both Hot Pursuit 2 & Most Wanted (2005). Credits go to Nils for his HD Caprice as the base for this project. The Most Wanted versions will have bodykits mostly inspired by Holden & HSV cars & not those fictional kits that the cars in Most Wanted had by default.

Everyone here's an update on the HP2 Holden WM Caprice V Series II. Mesh grille, Holden Lions but I will make the one on the trunk larger, Series II, Caprice V & AFM badges, turn incinerators on the sides of the car with lines added just for the civilian releases. The Caprice SS variant all that's left is its V8 badge & HSV Grange style spolier.

Are the vertical lines above the lower grille intentional or erroneous normals?

Those lines you speak of Nils are actually part of the license plate holder for the front bumper. I won't be able to do anymore work on the cars for a week because I will be away on vacation.

I was actually talking about the vertical lines. Which are to the left resp. right of the parking sensors at the upper corners of the lower grille.

Oh those its suppose to be that way the real Holden WM & WN Caprice has those indents in the bumpers near the parking sensors & chrome same thing with the Caprice SS. As you see here Nils like in this pic those lines are suppose to be like this here.

Here's the latest update on the Caprice V/SS I finished its interior, & when choosing colors in the game they will include the option with the sunroof opened or closed made possible as named as cop parts even though these are not cop cars with the sunroof glass being named as the lightbar glass while the sunroof ceiling piece being named as the lightbar. These are done via the vehicle.ini & the option of cop addons which would be reserved for the cop cars by default. I modified the front & rear seats to have the pattern of the real car, plus I also modified the headrests to have the LCD screens which will be more detailed for the Most Wanted version. I also had to redo the interior to get rid of the VE Commodore Omega Series II/Lumina LS/Caprice LS/Caprice PPV 9C3 style interior elements bring it closer the WM Caprice/Caprice V/Caprice SS style interior. I have my friends John who runs WM Holden Caprice Forum page on Facebook as well as owns a real WM Caprice Series I & Matt who runs the Pontiac GTO, Pontiac G8, Chevy Caprice PPV and Vauxhall VXR8 are Australian page & the Chevy Caprice PPV - Owners & Fans group also on Facebook who I thank so far for help with pics of the front end for the WM Caprice, as well as input & feedback on helping me to get the shape of the front bumper correct. Both men are Australian & have very good knowledge of the Caprice PPV's Australian, & other global counterparts as well as other Holden models too.

Nice! What does the whole car look like with its sunroof opened?

Here it is Nils sorry if I couldn't show you asap but I had to do a little research on how the Caprice's sunroof opened & closed my pal John who runs WM Holden Caprice Forum on facebook told me how it works 2 modes vented & sliding which is what I have displayed. As you see in John's video linked below how the roof opens in his road test of his 2007 Holden WM Caprice Series I model. I will end up updating the High Stakes versions in the future with that feature & they will use the interiors from the HD Caprices as dashes but modified to be right of course. I also added one more touch to the interior for the stick shift itself on the console since the civilian Holden Caprices, the Middle Eastern Caprice LTZ, Royale, SS, as well as other Caprice variants expect for the PPV & LS, and the VE Commodore Calais & V has since this is a luxury car that the Caprice PPV was developed from.

Here are some updates like to the Caprice V's LCD headrests now have controls & lines on them which was a detail that I didn't pay attention to until I seen my pal John's Holden Caprice video. Also here's the NFS Edition of the Caprice V & the same skin will be on the SS as well as the Caprice LS which I have began work on. The Caprice V & SS are just about finished but all that's left are the rims, & then the cars will be ready for the game. BTW the NFS Edition Caprices their scheme is the logo & 2 shades of blue that the theme of this site uses for the body & the lines.

Nice details on the headrests!

The NFSPHQ skin though... imagine it in real-life. Would you really paint the bodylines in a different shade of blue? Looks strange to me.

Plus, the lettering looks a bit odd since it's absolutely horizontal, I'd rotate it to follow the car's shape.

Lastly, I think you should have enough free space to put in a high-res texture for the lettering. You're representing us all on that car wink.png

Well yeah but however it doesn't exist real life so I went back & learned how to rotate textures using gimp. The scheme with the palette of the site layout kinda of sucked so I scrapped it & went back to all dark blue with the logo rotated. Plus I do things my way when it comes to making cars for NFS HP2 when it comes to making damage, even LOD parts, textures, etc. The one texture thing started when Serge decided this for his cars plus NFS HP2 ain't NFS HS when it comes to textures because of the fact I'm going by the way cars are by default in the game. Nils also I have begun doing the Statesman style front bumper without the fog lamps for the Caprice LS. Let know me when you have time for those wheels that I requested. I also forgot to mention I had to do away with the 3D tail lights on my projects since I don't do really high poly cars for this title since most of the cop cars on our site use high poly parts, most of the cars also don't have too many parts detached, no LODS, & damage off due to the fact using a different car's skeleton too. I used the TS50's as the base even though it only has one smoke bone & because of the fact it has a brakelight bone as well as 3 cop bones for the lights. About the Abu Dhabi Police Caprice LS it will reuse the same light bar that you made for HS, but the riot gear on the tail lights & front bumpers will be updated which is another reason why I made a textured tail light. And I also made some textures for the other LODS which are made of your original HS Caprice & my low traffic version modified though. One more reason for the use of the TS50's skeleton for my civilian Caprice also because of the brake discs too. BTW I did make a 3D LS badge for the Caprice LS & working on the Statesman/Caprice LS/LTZ/07-13 Royale/Veritas style front bumper.

Why not just rotate the mapping? And where did I talk about the way HP2 cars are done?

Yeah I will get to those wheels around next week, I guess.

Do the tallights really raise the polycount that much? Even the HS version has somewhat 3D lights. The textures weren't really designed for plain meshes, I guess it would be good idea to use a photo texture instead. At least the riot gear will conceal my lame textures biggrin.png

After almost 2 months of hard work on the Caprice V & Caprice SS they are finally finished the final things now include importing the models into the car vivs, testing in the game, readmes, & then the release of these vehicles. These shots were taken in NFS Model Viewer which is the tool that allows the geometry for hot pursuit 2 to be viewed without playing the game. I had to remove the part of the ceiling that I made due to it being shown through the transparent moonroof so other wise its done & next will be to resume the Caprice LS with its textures mostly especially the license plate.

In addition to project caprice for hp2 & mw here is also a little side project that I have been working on a conversion of our NFS HS 8th generation 00-05 Impala 9C1/9C3 & my civilian base Impala Sedan based on Serge's original models that came out in 2003 & Nils' updated ones for High Stakes. The roof sign & textures are from MW's taxi but I modified the taxi textures to fit onto my misc textures made for this car. This will be released as a taxi cab, and traffic car replacements with options to replace one or the other based on it was designed to replace. Everything is not finished still got cleaning up to, more mapping, assigning parts to materials, more LOD parts to make the interiors, & wheels are left, and then finally test them out in the game as well as get the ride height & wheel positions just right for the models then lock them. These will be available as source files to the staff on how to make traffic cars for Most Wanted. Credits go to Dodge Boy aka Serge for the original, XJ220 aka Nils for the updated version, & EA for the taxi sign and textures from their traffic/challenge taxi.

It doesn't matter because unlike the cop cars Nils traffic cars like racer cars don't have similar damage which includes no doors that open either.

Posted by: XJ220 Mar 25 2015, 02:25 AM
That wasn't my point - it simply looks unrealistic to cover the doors with a big sticker.

I thought of doing that Nils but the problem is it just won't work due to the fact that if I made a skin with that label then it would also affect the built in door moldings in mapping. Plus this is also how the original default taxi cab was too I also mimicked EA on that one too. With a car with removable door moldings like the CV then yes I would do that which I did do before you told me to halt the CV traffic taxi but in this case that will not work.

Posted by: XJ220 Mar 26 2015, 03:05 AM
After all the work you've already put into this I am sure you can come up with a better solution than EA?! wink.png

GM themselves on their Impala demonstrator simply covered part of the door moldings with their stars & stripes design. Numerous real departments (including Philly) did the same.

Or you could simply divide the decal, placing parts of it above and below the molding.

Here are shots of the car in the game when I first dealt with the materials to even dealing with the ride heights, wheel positionings & size, to even the interior & some parts not showing up. Now the traffic version of the cab maybe scrapped due to the fact the wheels came out messed up, along with the body in the textures.

Well everyone the Caprice LS for Hot Pursuit 2 is finished just waiting for Chris to test the car out along with the fixed up versions of the Caprice V & Caprice SS. And I went & converted my civilian 2008 Tahoe LS for NFS HS to NFS HP2 as a replacement for EA's Traffic SUV. For that I removed the interior, & lights since traffic cars in NFS HP2 are different from the racer/pursuit cars and different from traffic cars in HS & even Most Wanted. I took a pic of the tail & headlights to use as textures for the model and the polies are 4562. Nils if you want I will be glad to convert some of your NFS HS cars to HP2 as traffic cars and oh let me know when you can get do those Holden VE Commodore Series II range wheels for when I convert my Pontiac G8 into Holden VE Commodore Series IIs for High Stakes I will get the pictures for the requested wheels. As for other cars of yours I would want to convert like maybe your beetle, 96-97 crown victoria, 95-96 caprice, and you give me suggestions on which one of your cars would be good traffic cars for NFS HP2 or NFS MW? Also I could also convert my civilian Lumina, as well as the civilian 8th generation Impala, to maybe even your Charger, even your beemers, & Benzs.

Ok then I understand with the Commodore rims, also I might just convert your 98 VW New Beetle next to HP2 as a traffic car and thanks about the Caprice LS even my Australian friends who are Holden owners/fans on Facebook said they liked it too one of them asked if you ever seen a Bitter Vero in person before.

Posted by: CVPI19 Apr 23 2015, 07:48 PM
Well Nils here's your Beetle in NFS HP2 format as a traffic car designed to replace one of the hatchbacks. As for the coupe your 94 BMW 850-CSi-E31 coupe the same one you made into a MASP cruiser will do finely traffic cars are easier to do in NFS HP2 than the racer or police cars. Also even though I did HP2 versions of my Caprice LS, SS, & Caprice V I had thoughts of making the NFS HS versions into traffic versions too.

Yep Hot Pursuit 2 does take place in North America mostly but however you do have some tracks that take place in the Mediterranean in Europe though. In the PS2 version some tracks are suppose to be set in Australia but though the desert looks more American than Australian yet the desert is called the Outback which is suppose to be in Australia that's EA for you similar to how in the Australian version of HS on the PS1 making Durham Road in Australia when it hardly looked like Australia and more like the UK. As for the turn signals I took the ones from you MASP 850 CSi like you said to since I have my customize PA license plate since this version is mostly an American spec version.

Well Nils even though this variant of the 190 W102 was rarely imported into America still it will fit into Hot Pursuit 2 very well. Down the road I will also convert your 1983 base model variant but I think the next sedan to be converted into a Hot Pursuit 2 traffic car will be your 2006 Dodge Charger R/T (LX) sedan.

Still it don't matter because I plan to convert all of your sedans, coupes, & SUVs as traffic cars in Hot Pursuit 2 including the ones that I co-devloped with you expect for you Crown Victoria Kenny Panther since you still have to redo your 2nd generation Crown Victoria. In the meantime here's your 2006 Dodge Charger R/T (LX Platform) Sedan as a traffic car. As for taxi cabs the traffic cars have 2 sedans, hatchbacks, & taxi cabs. The cabs would take a bit longer to make I could also make police cars that aren't pursuit and don't take part in chases but rather just part of the traffic in the game. My next conversion will be your Mercedes Benz SL55 AMG roadster to replace the original traffic roadster. Once I finish doing your scratch made cars and make performance files for them then I will have Chris test them out & lock them for me.

After 2 & half years of developement the Hot Pursuit 2 versions of my civilian Caprices including the Caprice LS with Abu Dhabi Police version will be coming so here are some in game shots of the cars in action & I also decided to do generic PPVs marked for 9C1 & Unmarked/Undercover for 9C3 for 2011-2013 with all the colors as well. The Most Wanted version will resume once I get these out of the way & other things in my life that I have kept me busy. Oh for the NFS Editions I decided to remove the NFS Police HQ font from the car but kept the blue that we use for this site as the color as proof that these belong here at NFS Police HQ. Oh if anyone asks how did I change the car & company names in at the menu I used Texter which UCN was nice enough to provide me with.

Here are the stock & NFS Editions of the Holden Caprice V & the 2011 PPV generic 9C1 w.i.p. & if anyone asks about the spotlight that I have on the 9C1 it was scratch made by me its lower in polies than our older ones that we use on our police cars it will be used for future Hot Pursuit 2 & Most Wanted related projects with LODS for that version of course.

Mmm ... love that Holden! Does it have a pursuit version?

Looks quite high-poly; I'm guessing it probably won't work for me, because HP2 can't handle high poly cars even on my modern laptop. Is there a patch for this? High-poly cars seem to work for everybody else. The Tennessee HP Caprice PPV crashes the game when I "press any key" to start the race.

Just one thing: It looks like the Abu Dhabi police lettering on the doors could be more aligned with the door lines. Then again, I can't find any pictures of the real car, so I could be wrong. Also, I've no idea how to make HP2 cars, so it might be hard to do.

No sadly no cop version of the Caprice V or even the Caprice SS' just the LS & I noticed it was off too I could go back & fix it but I will wait to see what Nils says first Max. If you can't use the Holden Caprice V in Hot Pursuit 2 you can you try the NFS HS version. As for my NFS HP2 version of the car its 23400 polies since it has LOD parts too.

It's very hard to tell from the Youtube video how the lettering is applied to the real thing. So, like Max said, I'd rotate it to follow the doorline.

And the generic Caprice is a bit too generic IMO. Could use a generic badge and a more creative font, Arial is very bland wink.png

I like the detailed plates of the ME Caprices — will the Holden get the same treatment?

And keep it up, it's cool to see this model in-game again smile.png

Thanks but no thanks I wanted to make a very generic car that was simple adding a badge from your point of view would be too much for me I like the Arial font. Again thanks for the advice though but I chose to make a car my way.

Much better! biggrin.png

Just another thing (sorry to be a pain): That NSW plate is fine, but it has Euro plate dimensions. Australian-manufactured vehicles don't have Euro plates; they have standard AU plates. The https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_registration_plates_of_Australia on them is quite informative.

Yes, I do know a bit about this, because I see plenty of Aussie cars on the road. The plate mountings are quite visible, because the New Zealand plates are a bit small for them. NZ plate dimensions are unique; they don't fit on almost any car! laugh.png

Of course, if you can't find another plate, the one you currently have should be fine. I'm probably the only one who'll notice anyway.

Posted by: XJ220 Feb 8 2016, 08:45 AM
I was actually wondering about the plates' size because I know that Aussie regs are closer to US dimensions, was just not sure whether the same was the case for NZ. Now I know happy.png

@ Louis:

The hyperlink on the Abu Dhabi Caprice's doors looks much better already. I personally would tilt the main lettering similarly wink.png

Max & Nils actually the American & European style plates in Australia are both commonly used actually just like in the Middle East I did my best to recreate the Australian spec plates they can be ordered like this or similar to the USA spec style too.

If you want to be specific, a NZ number plate's size is 360 x 125 mm, slightly smaller than an Aussie plate, which is 372 x 135 mm. Some personalised plates may be taller.

We also have plates with European dimensions, for new European and Korean cars, so you can have plates that actually fit. Here is a http://www.dna.nl/new_zealand.htm with pictures. Unfortunately, we don't have plates with Japanese dimensions, so if your car is a secondhand import from Japan (probably half of all cars on the road are), your plate still doesn't fit.

@ Louis:

The Caprice looks excellent now. I've just realised that I should probably display the wireframe like that when I map my cars, so I can get the badges as symmetrical as possible. happy.png

Thanks Max but however its because I can't get my zmodeler to get out of wireframe mode due to the fact the key commands don't work ever since upgrading to a 64 bit system.

In addition to working on the MW versions of the Caprice PPV, Caprice SS, & Caprice V I'm also redoing the LTDs for Hot Pursuit 2 it will be a while before I redo them for High Stakes & make the 79-82 base & S models for High Stakes in addition to the 83-87 LTD CVs. For Hot Pursuit 2 since the original 88-91 LTDs made by Dodge Boy were lost to history on the web I had to strip down his New York State Police 1991 LTD Crown Victoria into a new base that I'm rebuilding at the moment.

Everyone here's a preview of what the interior lighting setup will look like inside of the heat 2 PPV 9C3s for Most Wanted and maybe even one day the Police Interceptor Sedans. The heat 2 cars will also have exterior lighting like sidekick lights on each side of the car where normally the side indicators would be on the Holden, Buick, or Middle Eastern export Caprices would have. Still got some work to do on the interiors, exteriors, even make the bodykits for the Caprice SS & Caprice V, so much to do but one day project Caprice will be finished for Most Wanted & these cars will be used a lot in Most Wanted. When these are finished & these hit the streets of rockport these cars will have a lot of lights to scare the living daylights out even the most skilled street racer lol!

Now onto Need for Speed Most Wanted the Caprices I have been working on lately like finishing the interiors for the Caprice SS & Caprice V, their respected badges, grills, also the bottoms & the lower parts of the rear the bumpers based on the body kits that I have been designing for the Caprice SS & Caprice V inspired by either different variants of the WM/WN Caprice range to even the HSV GTS E Series and lastly the VE II Commodore SV6/SS/SSV. A PPV inspired kit will be included for both civilian variants and as a complment to this project I also have began modifying & converting the Forza Motorsport 4 Camaro SS into Heat 3 & 4 car replacements for the police GTOs since the 5th generation Camaro uses the same platform as the VE & VF Commodores, the WM & WN Caprices and all of their variants. As for the Camaro its a work in progress since I have to map & assign the parts to their respective materials. Also the Camaro will be using parts & textures from Shift 2 Unleashed's Camaro SS and Hot Pursuit 2010's Seacrest County Police Department Camaro SS while some will be made from scratch by me.

Yes Nils the interiors are final you may not see it but the detail is there it's been there as for the Camaro it was my plan to give it the same markings as the GTOs but I had to modify them to make the scheme just right.

Been a while since I last posted in this thread but a update to the Caprice PPV & civilian Caprices project for Most Wanted has recently resumed here is a piece of the V8 engine block for the car which will be a option when selecting which engine you want in your cars for your projects. As for my RPD Caprices they will be V8 powered marked & unmarked.

Been a while since I posted in this thread but here's progress of Project Caprice for Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005). I have been working on the frames for the bumpers when the cop cars are damaged, the frames for the doors for they come off, the engine bays, trunk space, & improved EA's cop driver in mapping, and modified the player driver as the new cop driver LOD a too. As for the civilian models I have finished making the bases for custom hoods, have to resume making the side damage, bodykits they will not be wide and don't cause the car to be buggy, and also have to add decals, etc.

Bad news about the Civilian Caprices I accidentally deleted the files so I will have to get around to redoing them and I'm scrapping the bodykits in favor of just having customization limited to decals, rims, spoilers, & roof scoops designing & making bodykits takes too much time and its too much for me to do that but someday somehow the Caprice SS' & Caprice V will be on the streets of Rockport. Now the good news about the Caprice PPV's I have made a ton of progress on the bases for the staff and also the Rockport Police Department versions I will have more pictures soon.

Max the player challenge version is also part of this mod I talk about as it will be vital to the mod. This was the result of Domino's wanting to make a vehicle that was specially built for pizza delivery. Recently crashed ones have ended up in private hands but this one YouTuber who has been restoring and repairing a crashed one that he legally owns is being sued by some unknown company who wants the vehicle in their hands but he owns it legally. As for the mod itself I will be asking Masih for his help with making the skin for the vehicle and even texture for the driver to be a Domino's delivery driver and I can make the hats they wear too.

Omg ... I don't really know anymore. I already succeed to make %95 of car appear and the other %5 is same car skin. I discovered an issue: When the car gets damage (Hitting), everything can be shown. Let me see what can I do with this. wink.png

I think it’s materials and shaders that are the problem here and need help fixing them big time.

Hint: pink parts mean you have an incorrect shader assigned to the material, invisible parts are due incorrect textures. Also the compiler is case-sensitive so check if both names in zmod and materials.txt match.

Ariel thanks and I will Masih for this since I want to get these out soon like possibly this week.

Material names are match together and some shaders are wrong. For BADGING material, use DECAL shader. I thought material(s) got applied with wrong parts, so I got this error while I wanted to check it out with BINViewer: (Model file bugged)
Access violation at address 0040F235 in module 'BINViewer.exe'. Read of address 000000A0.

Well, I tried everything and don't know anymore. Sorry. sad.png

Masih I have good & bad news the bad news is I still can't get the tires to show up properly, but the good news the rest of the textures & shaders I was able to fix so far including the markings for the marked police cars. Can you help me fix that remaining bug with the tires only the rims show. I also still have to get the other cop lights to show up too. I also have to modify the rotor disc too so it doesn't get exposed in the center of the rims.

I just replied in PM.

Ok all material, shader, & texture bugs fixed, all that's left is to get the ride height right during game play, & the cop lights to work properly during chases or when using a trainer that has a cop lights option and lastly to prevent the rotor disc from sticking through custom rims when customing the cars.

Still having issues with the cop lights on the 9C1s & 9C3s especially since I made police lights for these cars that I was hoping I could get lit up once finished for the 9C1s their pushbars, & the inner edge, for the 9C3's their interior lights, & the lint6s in the grille of the hood, the front & rear bumpers too. Masih or BadHairDay someone please I need help even though I properly named the cop lights correctly they don't show up I wonder what's the problem here?

Posted by: CVPI19 May 24 2018, 07:43 PM
Thanks to AJ_Lethal the problems with the cop lights were too many of them when it comes to Most Wanted it goes up 8 so some of the interior & exterior lights are going to be scrapped for these reason especially on the 9C3s with the hood, & bumpers now the inner edge will be scrapped in favor of the directional bar from EA's Cut Scene car but will be a LED version though.

After what Ariel told me about the lights limit the 9C3's are finished the 9C1s will follow I say expect a release of these cars possibly next week once I finish the final details on the 9C1s. In the meantime here are some shots of the 9C3s in action & the final menu shots too. I had to also remove the sidekick lights but either way the cars still turned out to be good.

That’s just for display only I’m not releasing that since Cop Cars can’t really have secondary logos or primary either.

From now on my mods including the Caprices will lack base parts since I discovered that mount points can be added in binview pretty much emulating the way EA did it with their default cop cars in Most Wanted like them I’m attaching the mounts to the bodies each level of detail damaged and undamaged.

Here are shots of the 2011 RPD Caprice 9C1 in action the 2012, 2013, & all cut scene versions will follow after the mount points have been added to the models.

It's a been a year since I last touched this thread from now on all my cars for Most Wanted will be strictly addons not compatible with the modloader however I will include the source files for those who want to make Modloader compatible versions. First off I'm reworking my RPD Caprices into addons, second my Camaro I have been working on & off will now be a addon for the game, Third I had some ideas to add to the game like my Camaros will be part of Heat 3 & 4 appearing along side the GTOs, my Mustangs will also be joining them, my 997 911 Turbos will be joining the Corvettes at Heats 5 & 6 and the Murcielagos will be in new Heats they would be 8 & 9. Also besides the Caprices being part of Heats 1 & 2 the same will be for the Ford Police Interceptor Sedans as for the original Civic Cruisers they will be replaced by updated versions of my Ford Crown Victoria Police Interceptors. The Mustang, 997 911 Turbo, & Muricelago are all sourced from Forza Motorsport 4 and the PI Sedan is Dodge Boy's but modified by me years ago.

It's been a while since I last posted here but here's the W.I.P. of the 2014-2017 Caprice PPV for Hot Pursuit 2 & higher. As I explained in the High Stakes thread the changes to the Caprice PPV it got between 2014-2017. I will show off pics of the interior once done in the meantime enjoy the changes to the exterior I have done.

The WN-WN II based 2014-2017 Caprice PPVs for Hot Pursuit 2 & Higher are finally finished I also made the interiors too. Unlike Nils' 2011-2013 & the real life Caprice PPVs the WN-WN II models were only available as 9C1s as the 9C3 was discontinued after 2013.
