Ok since I've explained to you'all about how the 1974 Monaco body was also used on the 1976-1979 Plymouth Gran Fury til I was blue in the face I knew it would be possible to make one once Police911 got that car cut to size poly wise..
After alot of frustration and failed attempts I have came up with a rough version I think is good enough, Would be better if our pros was intrested in classics but they only worry about new cars ..Anyway here it is..Now she ain't perfect like I'd wished but it'll do I believe, The back bumper is a bit chunky than on the Gran Fury because I couldn't manage to cut it thinner without ruining it but oh well . I will use this to make the Illinois State Police Bicennential 1976 car and also the Matchbox 1979 police cars. -------------------- I'm 10-80..All units 10-0!

Ok..The first of many to come is ready for testing Slightly lower poly at 9580.
I fixed these so they now have the actual tires the cars had vs the ones the real car would have. -------------------- I'm 10-80..All units 10-0!

Looks great.
How about making as well the "Adam-12" car? The show itself had some cars never actually used by the LAPD in real life, so that Gran Fury won't really be much of a stretch. -------------------- [ - MAINTAIN RIGHT - ] |

Far as I knew the cars in Adam 12 was REAL, I have a book on police cars and it says they was used by L.A.P.D. I could make that version as well of the car if you'd like I opted out since that car wasn't used by L.A.P.D. or on Adam 12 but I could do it. With original Adam 12 lights or the TwinSonic as is on the cars? -------------------- I'm 10-80..All units 10-0!

It was never used in the show (and if it went for another season, they would just get the Fury as intended), but I really like the thing ever since I saw it on the official Matchbox site in late nineties. And while Adam-12 was famous for strictly following actual police procedures and even purchasing some real police-specs cars, it still didn't stopped them from using some oddballs here and there.
I guess it would be okay to keep it with the TwinSonic, as LAPD was testing these in the seventies anyway. -------------------- [ - MAINTAIN RIGHT - ] |

Ok then..I'll make the one as per the model specs..But I never knew of L.A.P.D. trying TwinSonic, I only knew of them using the can lights then in 1979 (on the St.Regis) using AeroDynic (even though that lightbar came out in 1977 ) Now the L.A. county S.O. used TwinSonic begining in about 1974 or so I'd say..Prior to that they had a 3 light triangle bar with the siren in the center..2 red and 1 yellow flasher at back..Unlike L.A.P.D. they used roof mounted spotlights as their emergency lights..That was why they had 3 cause of that dumb yellow flasher at the back law. UPDATE: I found 1 pic of the bar in use by L.A.P.D. They tested it begining in 1974, But evidently they didn't like it or it was too high price..Don't know but they for what ever reason didn't stick to them. -------------------- I'm 10-80..All units 10-0!

Looking forwards to it.
And LAPD indeed was trying TwinSonic, as well as the combo of can lights and Federal Signal Beacon Ray in the mid seventies. But just like with any other changes, they were not really willing. Just think about the Aerodynic as another example. Being only pushed through due to the LA Olympics, and the force got stuck with these until late nineties, when they got new Crown Victoria, and as well switched to Code-3 MX7K for a bit. And then they got Vista lightbars, which are they technically in the form of Arjent using to this day. And no sight of them actually wanting to update to Legend or Integrity anytime soon. Even that damn Valor is only shown on their demonstrator cars. -------------------- [ - MAINTAIN RIGHT - ] |

Did LAPD really use the Vista grand-scale? Only saw very few pics of such a combo and thought they directly switched from MX7000s to the Arjent. And why should they now switch from the Arjent to a more conventional design like the Legend?

Well, you do have a point. It definitely wasn't as widely used as the MX7K, for that there were guys in San Diego. But truth remains that LAPD got next generation of patrol cars to hit the streets, while retaining the same lightbar they were using for the past ten years. Wasted opportunity if anything, especially since the Caprice demonstrator from 2012 was equipped with the Legend, and same way Taurus and Charger demonstrators are using the Valor.

Still, why should they switch from Arjent to Legend? Both are FedSig and have the same S2 LED tech as far as I know. They have the Arjent, know it and have the equipment to maintain it. The Legend is a conventionally straight bar with little 45° visibility in comparison. So why switch?
I mean, it's not like they were San Diego and stayed with the TwinSonic until early nineties And the TwinSonic is definitely highly inferior to the AeroDynic, esp. if the latter is upgraded with traffic advisors and alley lights. Actually, I am not sure switching from that setup to the MX7000 was a step forward. -------------------- |
