It seems that there is no dedicated subject for this patch on this site. Apparently it's gotten rave reviews. I have heard that it works very well when used with DirectX9 from the Stock Pack and Glide Wrapper 0.84c. You can even have high-poly traffic cars and high-poly racer cars in the same race.

I haven't tried it myself yet, but those who have tried it say that it's awesome if configured properly.

It is the best working for the game I've seen, It totally ignores serial number conflicts. I don't know if you can have high poly traffic cops or not but I will see. If so than we found a way to break the poly limit..FINALLY..Now on to breaking the 16 light limit in FCE Finish 2. wink.png .

There is one draw back though to the modern patch, If you use it to take screen pics or game pics you can't just use PRT SCRN no more..You must use Bandicam or FRAPS to do so.

I tried to get NFS: High Stakes to work with the modern patch and when I tried to race with the PFMS
I got a message when loading hometown
that said
AMF=50 copter.c(299)

huh.png That's wierd. Maybe your Config.Dat file got screwed up when you installed the Veg patch.

On my new computer I don't have that problem
since it has windows 10 on it and my old computer has vista on it
and it only happens on my old computer

Posted by: UnumProvident101 Feb 19 2017, 10:31 AM
I really don't know what is causing that message to appear

Maybe this will help:

Has anyone tried using a larger resolution car00.tga? I think I read that it's supported in this patch. I meant to try it but totally forgot to. It would be a huge game changer for us if it works but I bet the car would end up looking really screwed up for those who don't use the patch

Hmmn..I know just the cars to try it on then, I made some that use 512X512 TGA and also Bob Robert has a Polizei Porsche 959 that has 1024X1024 TGA for it.

Just tried it for myself and it looks like the game still resizes it to 256x256

On the NFS3 Modern Patch features list, it says it's possible

QUOTE
Key Features

Full widescreen and HD resolutions support. You can easily use resolutions like 1920×1200. Now the game supports all aspect ratios from the 5:4 to 16:9, inclusive 4:3 and 16:10. HUD will be adopted automatically for every aspect ratio.

Improved graphics. No more cars with non-rotating wheels, better textures and models for other's cars (original game reduces size of textures even on maximum graphics settings), better graphics in the rear view, etc.

New graphics settings: Rear View Detail (High/Medium/Low), Rear View Camera From (In Car Camera/Active Camera, it decreases the blind spot), Fog (On/Off, like in the NFS4), Wide View Angle setting (useful for the widescreen resolutions).
Fog effect and light beams support in DirectX 6/7 (they were exclusive effects for the 3dfx Voodoo).

Portability. All system settings are loaded from the ini file. No more registry!
Compatibility. Most problems with modern Windows were fixed. Full support of multi-core processors. Original game can work properly only on one core. This change dramatically improves performance of the nGlide and the dgVoodoo.

Alt+Tab support. You can safely minimize the game when nGlide or dgVoodoo driver is used.

Built-in screenshoter. Just press Print Screen key, and a screenshot will be saved into the screenshots subdirectory in the JPG/PNG/BMP format.

Improved keyboard support in the menu. Now it is much more consistent. You can also use the Tab and Shift+Tab to switch between elements.

Better modding abilities. The game doesn't crash when high-poly cars are used. Also it possible to use huge textures up to 2048×2048 (original limit was 256×256).

Optimizations. 10 times faster gameplay loading on modern systems. To skip loading animation just press any key.

Bugfixes. More than 200 changes at all!

Interestingly, it also says that it has a built-in screenshot system; whereas I don't know if the NFS4 Modern Patch has that.

Nfs4 does have a screenshot shortcut: alt + P. It didn't work for me with the Stock Pack but it still works with the modern patch.

I will post the patch . But we need to figer out this problem first. dry.png

I installed it, but when I opened the game (using the new EXE) I got a message that said: STREAM - unable to open file 'Data\Audio\Music\menu4.asf'.

Posted by: AJ_Lethal Mar 22 2017, 07:50 AM
Did you copy the "data\audio\" folder from the CD to game's folder?

Posted by: BrabusAMG Mar 29 2017, 03:08 PM
I have now; it doesn't seem to crash anymore, but it doesn't load either. When I open it, I get a black screen that just stays and does nothing.

By the way, where are the alt + P screenshots saved to?

Posted by: BoxCarRacer Mar 31 2017, 11:34 AM
Mine were saved right to desktop.

Most of my patch problems have now been solved; but I have now run into another: the game doesn't seem to support any resolution higher than 640x480, even though 800x600 and 1024x768 are selectable from the graphics menu (and the monitor on my HS computer is 1024x768). If I select a higher resolution, the screen goes blank when I start a race, although the game still runs.

I'm using Zeckensack's Glide Wrapper as the graphics driver in case you were wondering. Might that be the problem?

Posted by: AJ_Lethal Apr 16 2017, 06:59 PM
don't change the resolution in the game menus if you're using Glide wrappers, you have to use the wrapper settings for that
