I installed NFS: HP2 on my new computer this week and there seems to be something weird happening like, in the ea games folder I noticed that some of the car folders for the game are missing including, the actors folder and also the sfx folder in the audio folder.
The os on my new computer is Windows 8.1
I don't know what I am doing wrong

I have windows 8 and it works fine .Try and find the files that are missing on cd . Copy the files and pasted them into the game file. If that does not work copy all the files from the cd and put them into the game file and run the game with the cd .

An incomplete installation really does sound weird. Have you checked the CD for scratches that might prevent the drive from properly reading everything? Also, do you have enough free HDD space? Lastly, perhaps these folders require elevated rights for some reason, so you might want to run the setup with admin privileges.

If you have scratches on your cds or gaming cds this is a soundman fix get toothpaste and rub it on the cd and let it sit and dry for 30 min. Then use a towel and rub off the toothpaste .It works.

The game installed fine on my other computer there are no missing files

So... enough free space on this one (most likely not an issue nowadays but still)?

Does HP2 have a min/full installation option?

Scratches. That other PC might simply have a better drive which can still read the game CD. I have noticed serious differences in the quality of CD/DVD drives, no matter whether they sit in a computer or a stereo.

I don't think it does, but it does have some scratches
not many of them

Hum does any of your older games work ???You may have a HD rom that only play higher games . You may need a portable cd/dvd rom thy are cheap on ebay .
It just a idea .

Even a single scratch can be enough if it's deep/wide enough though that would require some effort.

Have you tried running the setup with admin rights? What OS does the other PC use (the one on which the installation does work)?

Windows Vista 32bit

It could be interesting to see what would happen if you exchanged the two PC's drives, but I guess that's not an option.

Can you manually copy the whole installation disk? That way we could see whether it is the drive's fault or not.
